- this list is not to be understood as complete. please do not follow
- to my thread and nitpick about various things i put in this list.
- the courier is a corporate modem (800 # support) the sportster is a
- consumer grade modem (toll call)
-
- courier features that sportster does not
- ========================================
- flash programmable eeprom and dsp [sportster requires eprom swaps except the
- dsvd model]
- caller id
- distinctive ring
- redial on loss of carrier
- lapm srej [some poeple say that the sportster does srej but i havent seen it
- turned on yet]
- MI/MIC dialing mode [for main frames]
- leased line mode
- x.25 support
- sync
- more modem lights (courier has 12 - hs aa cd oh rd sd tr mr res cs syn arq]
- a really neat case
- voice data switch with 8 settings (redial, disconnect, reset modem, etc etc)
- sportster has i think 2 settings in nram courier has 1
- 8 or 9? cant remember, 8 or 9 stored phone numbers, sportster has 4
- 7 levels of atx settings, sportster has only 4
- stored command string (can be used with the voice data switch)
- HST support [propietary high speed protocol, which hardly anyone uses
- anymore]
- v.32terbo
- bottom panel reference of most used commands and dip switch settings and
- rs232 pinouts
- more complete modem manual
- remote configuration (you can call your modem from the other side and
- view and change its nvram settings)
- ati11 line quality (some new sportsters lack this)
- dial security with various passwords (10 accounts) autopass [special
- password sending with initial connect] or manually entering the
- password
